Media market

A media market, broadcast market, media region, designated market area, DMA or simply market is a region where the population can receive  types of media including newspapers and Internet content. They can coincide with metropolitan areas, though rural regions with few significant population centers can also be designated as markets. Conversely, very large metropolitan areas can sometimes be subdivided into multiple segments. Market regions may overlap, meaning that people residing on the edge of one media market may be able to receive content from other nearby markets as well.

Map Book For Full-Service Digital Television Stations Having Significant Changes in Coverage

The FCC has issued a report showing the coverage maps for all full-service TV facilities, including 1,749 stations that have both an analog and DTV facility and 69 stations having only DTV facilities. The maps show each station's digital TV coverage as compared to its analog TV coverage (except for the 69 DTV-only stations) within each Nielsen Designated Market Area. This second report contains maps and other information for the 319 stations where more than two percent of the population covered by their analog service will not be covered by their digital service.

U.S.A. DMA MAP

Designates all 210 Markets in the United States, detailing each county and state for Single Unit and Area Franchise Development Sales. The DMA system is a nationally accepted standard by all Media. The DMA map is an excellent method of awarding territories to area developers and multi-unit Franchisee's. The chart compares the ranking in 2010-2011 against the ranking in 2011-2012. Numbers are in the TV Homes, not the population.
